Itinerary:
Day 1 Arrival to Costa Rica
Welcome by our guide and transfer from the International Airport to the Hotel in San José. Accommodation at the Rosa del Paseo Hotel.
Day 2 San José - Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge
Breakfast at the Hotel. Private transfer from San José to the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge. In the afternoon, the visit to the town of Caño Negro includes natural trails where marvels of nature such as flora and fauna can be admired; an experienced guide will lead the visitors through the long walk on the huge diversity of native birds indigenous to the area. The flora existing in this reserve of exuberant vegetation deserves equal importance. Accommodation at the Natural Lodge Caño Negro Hotel.
Day 3 Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge
Breakfast at the Hotel. Travel by a comfortable and safe boat through the wetlands of the Caño Negro National Wildlife Refuge, which shelters 310 plant species, abundant fish species, standing out the Tarpon, Tarpon Atlanticus, Gaspar (prehistoric fish), and the rainbow bass. The 350 bird species make up one of the most diverse and important groups of the area. Besides, there are at least 160 mammal species, among them the howler monkey, white-faced monkey and spider monkey. Accommodation at the Natural Lodge Caño Negro Hotel.
Day 4 Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge - Arenal Volcano - Sky Tram
Breakfast at the Hotel. Private transfer from the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge to the Arenal Volcano. The Arenal Reserve is a tourism service complex inside the tropical rain forest, which offers adventure tours, excursions, plant and birdwatching, research, entertainment and recreation for all ages. In the afternoon, a visit to the Sky Tram Arenal, which is located in a transition area between the rain forest and the Monteverde Cloud Forest -location of the Arenal Reserve. You can either enjoy the spectacular views of the Arenal Volcano and Lake from the Sky Tram or take a nice walk through the trails of exuberant flora and fauna instead. Whatever your choice is, you will always remember this reserve. Sky Tram is a 15 minute aerial tram tour through the rain forest to the "Miguel Angel" observatory, where you will have spectacular views of the Arenal Volcano and Lake as well as the Tilarán Mountain Range. Day 5 Arenal National Park
Breakfast at the Hotel. Walk in the Arenal National Park through a well-protected secondary forest to see wildlife such as the spider monkey, white-faced monkey, howler monkey, toucans, golden orioles, among other species. The walk crosses a lava flow from 1992, but continues to steam, where tourists learn about the most important aspects of the Arenal Volcano. Accommodation at Arenal Observatory Lodge Hotel.
Day 6 Arenal Volcano - Monteverde Cloud Forest
Breakfast at the Hotel. Today, we will take the road to the port of the Arenal Lake. There we will board a motorboat to travel for about 30 minutes over the Arenal Lake to the Chiquito River, where we will take land transport heading for the hotel in Monteverde. Accommodation at the Cloud Forest Lodge Hotel.
Day 7 Monteverde Biological Reserve
Breakfast at the Hotel. This tour includes a natural history walk recommended on morning hours because wildlife is much more active and you would appreciate better the beauty of the cloud forest at this time. This tour takes between 3 and 4 hours to complete. Including: transportation, entrance fee, natural history walk and a bilingual guide. Accommodation at the Cloud Forest Lodge Hotel.

Day 8 Ecological Sanctuary
Breakfast at the Hotel. The ecological sanctuary is a Wildlife Refuge run by a Costa Rican family, who offers long and short trail walks through a forest with beautiful viewpoints, two big waterfalls, coffee and banana plantations, and an opportunity to see a lot of bird species. You can also look at the mammals indigenous to the area, such as: white-nosed coatis, black agouti, porcupines, sloths and many more, or you can simply picnic and rest in natural areas surrounded by a tropical forest. The ecological sanctuary was created in 1992 with the aim of protecting 30 hectares (75 acres) of forest located in the Monteverde Pacific slope. In the past, it was a farm with some coffee and banana plantations. For having a primary and secondary forest in transition, it has a countless |
biodiversity in plants and animals. This was the base for making several trails to offer the opportunity for watching wildlife. Nowadays, the activity of the farm is ecotourism, which is supported with the money from the sale of the visitors' entrance for maintaining the place and projects of conservation, with the object of preserving and regenerating the forest and living in harmony with nature. Day 9 Monteverde Cloud Forest - San José
