Learn all about the fascinating butterfly as you explore its natural habitat. This tour begins with a 25-minute film that gives an introduction as to what will be seen.

Next, you will proceed to the export plant, where on shipping days, you will observe the sorting and packing processes required to export butterfly pupas.  Finally, you will enter the tropical butterfly garden, where over a thousand butterflies live, feed, mate and lay their eggs everyday. Your tour guide can help you identify most of the butterflies, and point out females laying their eggs or butterflies that are feeding on flowers.

You will be allowed to touch the legs of the butterflies and discover how they hold on to plants or try to find winning lottery numbers on their wings. Topics such as the role of butterflies in nature, their defense mechanisms and those of their host plants are but a sampling of the many themes discussed during this tour. The entire cycle of the metamorphosis will be illustrated.
This tour ends at the gift shop, where you can ask more questions or indulge buying Costa Rican souvenirs.
