During this full-day tour, you will explore the crater of Poás Volcano and visit La Paz Waterfall Gardens Nature Park and Wildlife Refuge, home to beautiful waterfalls and one of the world's largest butterfly farm observatory.
On your way to the volcano, there will be a stop and your tour guide will give you a brief explanation about Costa Rica's "golden grain", the coffee bean. The trip will then continue past strawberry fields, coffee and sugar cane plantations, ferns, and flowers until you arrive to the national park’s cloud forest. After an invigorating hike, you will be able to admire the impressive and imposing crater of Poás Volcano and its fumaroles at 2,708 meters (1.7 miles) above sea level.
Next, you will be taken to La Paz Waterfall Gardens Nature Park & Wildlife Refuge. Here, you will discover one of the world's largest butterfly farm observatories it has the length of a football field and reaches heights of 15 meters (50 ft). This enclosed structure allows butterflies to soar freely while guests walk amid their habitat. You will also visit a fascinating hummingbird garden with 24 different species, a frog pond with nocturnal, diurnal and poisonous frogs, a serpentarium with 30 of the most beautiful snakes in the country and an orchid garden containing Costa Rica’s national flower. Finally, you will be guided to the park’s trails where you can start a spectacular hike past its five waterfalls make sure you don’t forget your camera for this!
